Queensland Child Protection Week shares the important message that “protecting children is everybody’s business”.

Each year Communify Artists design a special craft project for children that celebrates this vital message and this year it is a butterfly house.

The concept symbolises the transformation of a caterpillar to a beautiful butterfly – a metaphor for personal growth and change, inspiring hope and renewal during challenging times.

Protecting children is a collective endeavour, so Communify is inviting community groups and organisations, schools, early childcare centres, families and carers at home to make and decorate their own butterfly house in the lead up to Queensland Child Protection Week.

Queensland Child Protection Week runs from Sunday, 1 September – Saturday, 7 September 2024.

Everything you need to run your own children’s workshop is here to follow at home or in a group.

You can download and print the template, gather up a few easy to find materials and follow our video OR order a butterfly making kit for your community group or kindergarten (below) and we’ll send you everything you need to run your own workshop.

Each kit will have templates for 30 butterfly kits, and most of the materials (excluding colouring in pens/pencils, scissors and glue/sticky tape) be posted to you.
