Owners and their pets share a special bond. As we care for our community, it’s essential that we care for and support to our furry companions as well.
In a heartwarming collaboration between the Acacia Ridge Community Centre and RSPCA Qld, we welcomed pet owners from all walks of life to join us last Tuesday 5 September. People and Pets Day, complete with a community BBQ, brought together local pet owners for a day filled with camaraderie and community spirit.
Dakabin RSPCA’s dedicated team generously donated their expertise and time to offer invaluable assistance to our local pet owners. They provided free advice on a range of pet care topics such as grooming, behaviour training, flea and worming treatments, and comprehensive health check-ups for their beloved fuzzy friends.
No fewer than 23 pets and 17 devoted owners received top-notch veterinary care at no cost thanks to the incredible RSPCA team, with parasite control and access to the pet bank provided to 4 additional pets. The impact of this event within the local community has been significant, fostering a sense of connectedness between community members and strengthening the bonds between pet owners and their treasured furry companions.
If you are in the area, please come and visit our Acacia Ridge Community Centre! If you need food relief, we offer a food co-op for $5 per year for food staples and meals if need be. The Co-op is open Tuesday to Thursday 9:00am – 12:00pm. We also offer a free community lunch on the first Tuesday of each month. Call (07) 3277 4893 for more information about the co-op or other services we offer to the community of Acacia Ridge and surrounding suburbs.
