As we close this final door of the Holiday of Hope campaign, and close the door on 2023, we’d like to throw back to more of our favourite stories and highlights that made the year as special as it was.

Politics in the Pub: The Debate 2023

Every year, Communify teams up with Brisbane Powerhouse and Brisbane Comedy Festival to host a very special edition of Politics in the Pub – The Debate. This year’s Debate was a Very Funny Fundraiser indeed, and it was our most successful one yet, attracting over 300 attendees and raising $4,500 in ticket sales. All proceeds from the event go towards supporting the work of New Farm Neighbourhood Centre

Party in the Park

Party in the Park, the annual community event hosted by Acacia Ridge Community Centre, was once again a great success with over 300 attendees enjoying a fun family day out at Grenier Park. Our community members enjoyed an afternoon in the sun, with First Nations ceremonial dances, rides and activities, stalls and so much more to entertain them.
With thanks to Brisbane City Council for funding the event.

Bindi Bindi Place Co-Design Workshop

The Bindi Bindi Place Steering Committee brought together key organisations and industry leaders across the child protection, early childhood and health sectors for a co-design workshop in August. Led by the visionary Claire Grealy, the workshop offered an opportunity for service providers to map out methods of service delivery that foster community support, so that Bindi Bindi Place will have optimal impact.

In January 2023, our HART4000 team along with partnering organisations united to deliver the Brisbane Zero campaign to eradicate homelessness in Brisbane. The campaign aims to achieve this by implementing targeted reduction strategies to secure housing outcomes for cohorts identified as being chronically homeless.

In August, for Homelessness Week 2023, HART4000 teamed up with Micah Projects and The Salvation Army to host the Brisbane Zero Mini Forum, at which many valuable insights were shared around how service providers can contribute towards the vision of ending rough sleeping in Brisbane by 2032.

Participant success stories

Client success stories 2023

We’re privileged to watch the people we serve transform their lives as we connect them with the support they need. Here are just a few of those stories:

  • Varinia, one of our regulars and a multitalented artist to boot who came to us through the Recovery and Discovery Centre
  • Frank, our in-home support client who celebrated his 100th birthday this year
  • Shona, one of the first HART4000 participants to secure long-term housing at Clayfield House
  • Denise, whom HART4000 connected with a new home after she lost her home of 23 years
