Our NDIS Core Supports team helps to build the confidence and skills of our NDIS participants through providing support coordination, recovery coaching and specialised supports. The team also works with participants to foster social connectedness by linking them in with a broad range of social activities through our place-based community networks. This helps participants build their independence and enhance their overall quality of life.
Hear from two of our participants about how Communify has supported them to live life to the fullest.
Meet David
Photo as above: David loves to attend music sessions at Love St and play electric guitar!
David’s support worker shared,
“David is a light-hearted person who is always smiling! David has made great progress over the last year with his health and wellness, losing a significant amount of weight and pursuing bodybuilding contests.
David is a talented musician and artist, and once played guitar with the bassist from sound garden. David enjoys art, nature walks, and action movies.
David has recently engaged with group programs in art and music, which is a huge step for him as socialisation can often be overwhelming. In the last three months, David went from being unable to catch public transport to catching transport with his support workers. David is motivated, dedicated and passionate which help him to achieve his goals and try new things; regardless of how scary they may be!”
Meet Neil
Neil sitting on his thrown as the King of KingPin Bowling!
Neil sat down with one of our NDIS Core Support Team Leaders to reflect and write down what he has enjoyed most over the last few months.
“Neil enjoys having a BBQ at New Farm Park and challenging his support worker at a game of Pool and Ten Pin Bowling. Neil always wins, of course!
Neil is a big fan of the Broncos and has enjoyed watching them do a training session in Red Hill. One of Neil’s goals was to walk to Suncorp Stadium and see the Broncos play, which he recently achieved with support from his family and Communify.
On Neil’s Birthday last week, he was supported by Communify staff to bake a birthday cake for the first time and shared it with his family.
Neil’s family and Communify staff have noticed how much Neil’s confidence has grown these past few months. He is getting out and about and taking initiative to complete his daily living tasks.”
