Bindi Bindi Place
Bindi Bindi Place
A new community approach to protecting our vulnerable children
We have a problem and we need your help.
Right now, more than 170,000 children are in contact with the child protection system in Australia and, for 68% of those children, this is not the first contact.
Across Australia, government bodies are struggling to cope with the dramatic rise in reports of child abuse – up 7.3% in the past 12 months – and the number of foster carers in Queensland is failing to keep up with increased demand. Sadly, children under the age of six are the most at risk.
The facts are clear. Simply put, our system is struggling, and our community needs a new approach.
Bindi Bindi Place will protect vulnerable children under six years of age, break intergenerational abuse, and map out a better future for families.
What is Bindi Bindi Place?
Bindi Bindi Place is a purpose built, seven-day shared care centre using a proven model for supporting our most vulnerable children under six years of age and their parents.
This new and alternative model to protect and care for these vulnerable children and at-risk families is needed immediately. Bindi Bindi Place’s approach to care will be based on the forward-thinking Abecedarian model and delivered by Communify.
This model will focus on:
- early and intensive intervention
- breaking intergenerational cycles of abuse and neglect
- prevention rather than treatment.
The first Bindi Bindi Place will be located in North Brisbane, where we have identified the greatest need. The first centre will be located at 62 Handford Road, Zillmere, where land has now been purchased for the build. But we need your help to build the centre and bring this vision to life.
