Program details

Gain skills in laboratory and field work, conduct basic scientific calculations, communicate, document and store data.

Your trainer is a seasoned professional, who works in the industry. You will receive guidance to enhance your success.

After 16 weeks, you’ll be eligible for employment as a laboratory assistant in sectors such as food technology, pathology, educational institutions, or various trades.

  • 16 weeks training including industry field visits to see testing and sampling in action
  • 2 days per week – Wednesdays and Thursdays 9am-2pm
  • Personalised support plan
  • Support to secure employment, leading to a rewarding career
  • Training comes at no cost to eligible participants.

Eligibility

To apply applicants must be:

  • 18 years or older
  • No longer attending school
  • Not currently enrolled in accredited training
  • Be a permanent Queensland resident or on a pathway to residency
  • Must not have previously participated in a Skilling Queenslanders for Work Programme
  • Unemployed or underemployed – in need of support to find a job
