Home Assist Secure (HAS)
Funded by the Queensland Government , our Home Assist Secure service provides subsidised assistance with minor home maintenance or modifications to eligible Queenslanders who need help to remain living safely at home.
HAS supports are designed to help improve access throughout your home, and to help you feel safer in your surroundings.
Who we help
Our Home Assist Secure service is available to people located in the following suburbs: Red Hill, Bardon, Paddington, Auchenflower, Milton, Toowong, Ashgrove, Kelvin Grove, The Gap.
Eligibility through Home Assist Secure
To be eligible for Home Assist Secure support through the Home Assist Program, you must either be:
- Aged 60 years or over, or
- Any age with a disability
You must also:
- Hold a current pensioner or concession card
- Be unable to use alternative forms of assistance such as CHSP, Queensland Community Care (QCC) or Veterans Affairs.
How we help
Home Assist Secure offers practical help, information and referral services for home maintenance, falls prevention, minor modifications and home security.
The subsidised services we can offer include:
- Qualified trades – repairs and minor maintenance such as plumbing and electrical work, performed by licenced contractors
- Minor modifications and handywork
- Ensuring alarms, smoke detectors and other safety aids such as key safes are installed
- Security – ensuring doors and windows lock correctly, installing sensor lights and cameras
We can also link you to skilled tradespeople who can provide you with quotes for any work you require, and we can arrange for an occupational therapist to visit you at home and assess your needs.
Please note that the following are not available through Home Assist Secure:
- Major modifications such as bathroom redesign and stair lift
- Garden maintenance aside from mowing
- Fence repair or installation
- Air conditioner installation
- Maintenance for rental properties.
