Community Hubs
The Community Hubs initiative delivers grass-roots programs based in schools that cultivate connections between refugee and migrant families and their community.
Communify has partnered with Community Hubs Australia to operate as the Brisbane Hub Support Agency. Our support coordinator works in the hubs established in Zillmere, Inala, Acacia Ridge and Nundah State Schools and St Brendan’s Catholic Primary School in Moorooka.
Who we help
The Community Hubs welcome community members including migrant, asylum seeker and refugee families, particularly mothers with young children, to share, learn and connect with their community.
The hubs support participating families by:
- enrolling preschool children into playgroups to prepare them for school
-
providing English language classes and conversation practice
- building pathways to volunteering and employment
- helping mothers and children develop a network of supportive friends and peers
