Recovery and Discovery Centre
Recovery and Discovery Centre
The Recovery and Discovery Centre will be open as usual except for public holidays.
However, appointments and services will be limited from 23 December 2024 to 6 January 2025.
The Recovery and Discovery Centre supports people who are living with severe and complex mental health challenges. The program provides free integrated clinical and non-clinical supports and is designed to help people who aren’t receiving mental health supports elsewhere.
Who we help
The Recovery and Discovery Centre supports people who are:
- Over the age of 18
- Residing in the Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital catchment area
- Not receiving support through the NDIS
- Not receiving case management support through Queensland Health or support through Hospital to Home
- Living with severe and complex mental health concerns that are having a significant impact on daily life
How we help
Our program provides mental health support across three key streams:
Psychosocial Support
Our Social Workers and Mental Health Peer Support Workers provide a range of non-clinical, community-based support services. These supports can be individual or within a group and use a trauma-informed, recovery orientated approach to support goal setting and working towards independence.
Psychological Therapies
We provide access to a range of specialist health and wellbeing programs tailored to specific mental health concerns and wellbeing goals.
Clinical Care Coordination
Our Clinical Care Navigators liaise effectively with a range of health care providers, provide information and education on mental health recovery, and support the coordination of both physical and mental health care needs.
Stories from our clients
Prolific artist Varinia Street is one of Communify’s most engaged community members, with a personality as vibrant as her artwork.
44-year-old David first came to Communify as a participant in our Springboard program in 2019 to recover from addiction. After completing the Springboard program twice to recover from his addiction, David is now benefiting from ongoing support through the Recovery and Discovery Centre. The program is not only helping David manage his mental health on a daily basis; the support he has received has also been empowering for David and has helped him embrace his true sense of self.
With the diverse range of services Communify offers, often our clients will engage with various different supports along their journey with us. And on occasion, we have been lucky enough to bring clients on board with us as valued employees after they have radically transformed their lives. This is the inspiring trajectory that our former client, and now part-time employee Eron Waller followed.
