Binkenba Place Christmas party

Some snaps of our residents enjoying the Christmas celebrations

Binkenba (the place of the resting turtle) Gaba baa yana-y – (good life journey)

A growing number of women over 50 are navigating a complex landscape of unaffordable housing, tenancy uncertainties, and the looming threat of homelessness.

Binkenba Place is a transitional supported housing facility designed to support First Nations women over 45 and women over 50 into secure long-term housing. The Binkenba Place program offers short-term, self-contained units, with furnished or unfurnished options available and onsite support available. This housing program operates through a culturally informed lens to empower women, guided by First Nations cultural goals of care and respect to help connect women with a sustainable “gunya” home. Binkenba aims to create a sense of belonging for women, by working alongside them in their healing journey.

Our residents over at Binkenba Place felt the Christmas spirit earlier this month at their catered Christmas lunch. After sharing a lovely meal with fellow residents, the Sustaining Tenancies staff led a fun art activity of mug painting and decorating (Christmas themed of course).
