The Brisbane Open Woolloongabba Forgotten Type tour will allow participants to discover building names, “ghost signs” and other text remnants that uncover the hidden history of Brisbane’s heritage buildings.
Meet us at the Substation at Woolloongabba and walk the neighbourhood with Elliott Bledsoe, our Forgotten Type expert finding “ghost signs” and then regroup at the hall to research and discuss the social history behind each sign. Discover building names, “ghost signs” and other text remnants that uncover the hidden history of Brisbane’s heritage buildings.
Participants are required to bring their own digital device and have an active Google account. Participants are also encouraged to be familiar with the National Library of Australia’s Trove and the State Library of Queensland’s SLQ One Search.
This Brisbane Open event is delivered in partnership with Elliott Bledsoe of Agentry and is part of Brisbane Open House’s new year-round cultural tours offerings.
