Program details
Gain skills in laboratory and field work, conduct basic scientific calculations, communicate, document and store data.
Your trainer is a seasoned professional, who works in the industry. You will receive guidance to enhance your success.
After 16 weeks, you’ll be eligible for employment as a laboratory assistant in sectors such as food technology, pathology, educational institutions, or various trades.
- 16 weeks training including industry field visits to see testing and sampling in action
- 2 days per week – Wednesdays and Thursdays 9am-2pm

- Support to secure employment, leading to a rewarding career
Training comes at no cost to eligible participants.
Eligibility
To apply applicants must be:
- 18 years or older
- No longer attending school
- Not currently enrolled in accredited training
- Be a permanent Queensland resident or on a pathway to residency
- Must not have previously participated in a Skilling Queenslanders for Work Programme
- Unemployed or underemployed – in need of support to find a job
