Exciting news at Communify, our Construction Traineeship commenced on 14th June 2021 at Bric Housing, 593 Boundary Street, Spring Hill.
Communify’s Sustaining Tenancies employment program coordinator, Wendy Noble, and Tim Early from Skilling Qld have assisted in recruiting 12 participants from Bric housing and Communify’s Asylum Seeker Support program who commenced a Certificate I in Construction traineeship this week. This is a partnership between Bric housing and Communify, and is funded under Skilling Queenslanders for Work.
Tim Early from Communify is managing the project and Joey Travers, Construction Supervisor, will be supervising the participants, on various projects around Brisbane.
The 18-week traineeship consists of one day in the classroom completing modules for the certificate I with DGT and Employability skills with Tim Early from Communify, and four days of practical work with Joey Travers. Students learn new skills such as painting, making furniture, laying floors, fencing, concreting, paving, giving them the skillset for future sustainable employment.
Participants are from diverse backgrounds.
